 1. Appelsap - One Love

In 2017 Appelsap wanted to celebrate their international network of likeminded spirits and went on a journey around the world to (re)connect with their friends. In times where cultures are threatened to grow separated, Appelsap wanted to spread love, peace and unity showcasing the vibes known from the Summer festival in an integrated, visually outstanding, but most of all super-positive campaign. It features rappers Fresku, Bokoesam, Pietju Bell and hip-hop legend Rotjoch among others.

2. Centraal Beheer - Rapper

Reflecting on the current hype around Artificial Intelligence, notably voice-controlled ‘bots’ like Apple’s Siri and Amazon’s Echo – DDB & Tribal Amsterdam imagined a non-existent technology that could possibly be the next innovation: a car equipped with Personal Voice Control.

No better way to make a glitch with this imaginative PVC technology more tangible than by creating a storyline around cocky rapper ‘Young D’. In the movie Young D is celebrating his first hit and the car responds to the lyrics of that hit, when played on the radio, lead to a finale that light-heartedly, yet clearly communicated: you better have good car insurance.

3. Tele2 - Lil' Kleine niet omdat het moet

Lil' Kleine and Ronnie Flex are one of Holland’s most famous hip-hop duos. They are the personification of the Tele2 mantra, and thus the ideal artists to reach the target audience. INDIE chose to give the artists maximum creative freedom, so that the content remained as credible and appealing to consumers as possible. The artists had their own take on the Tele 2 mantra, which they visualised in a video. The result is a song and video with minimal branding but a suspiciously close resemblance to the commercial.

 4. Dio - Venus EP Artwork

The photographer Peggy Kuiper wrote: Because it is shot in an aesthetic way, the viewer is confused. This is the emotion I’m looking for. It raises questions and doubts, and makes you wonder. My background in graphic design still plays an important role in the photography. I often work with geometrical compositions, and the pictures I did have an ‘illustrated’ feeling.

See how Peggy Kuiper (Cake Film & Photography) played with geometry, lighting and colour in this series of photo's for Dutch rapper Dio's new EP titled 'Venus'.

 5. Vodafone - Get the Flow

In the Netherlands 5% of all children stutter. Many become victims of bullying, which causes low self-esteem. Instead of practicing their speech by talking in public, children choose the easy alternative to communicate: their mobile phones. DDB & Tribal Amsterdam and Vodafone tapped into this issue and created an app for children aged 8-14 to help them speak more fluently and connect with others. Various studies have shown that when people who stutter start rapping, their stutter disappears.

DDB & Tribal Amsterdam created a free mobile app that uses rap to help children speak more fluently. Rap provides guidance and rhythm, which really helps people who stutter. Many stutter therapies lack fun speech exercises. The ‘Get The Flow’ app combines speech exercises with something kids do like: Dutch hip hop. The campaign features rapper Ali-B and the app features content by Broederliefde, Sevn Alias and Kevin.

 6. Tele2 - #Hatersgonnalove

INDIE Amsterdam wanted to come up with a positive message that can be spread around Christmas. A message that not only sends, but actually activates people to do something. The internet is not made for hatred, so they created a campaign that fights hate with love. Because giving love is the best medicine against hate. Check out the fun commercial that features most hated rapper at the moment: Famke Louise.

7. Tele2 - 2GB love story

For valentines day Tele2 gifted all subscribers 2 gigabyte extra data. In the commercial a voice over done by Dutch rapper Insayno tells the listener what a user is able to do with those 2 gigabytes of data. From installing Tinder and Grindr to looking up kamasutra online. A whole story about finding love through telecom written with a lot of wit and modern references to internet culture.
