After an unparalleled year of turmoil, placing our trust in the future may either be a much needed lifeline or decidedly fruitless. Whichever your outlook, a new year always brings new challenges and new perspectives, which we aim to shed light on in our latest Issue.
With our FUTURE Issue, reimagine what spaces of the future will look like, take part in a global design competition to fight the impacts of waste and consumerism, join a discussion to shape your idea of the photography of the future, question if this is the age of gender neutral marketing, and ask yourself – 'Do you trust the future?' thanks to our cover artist.

Reimagine spaces of the future to fit our new reality.
If you could tear up the rulebook for how public and private spaces 'ought' to be designed, where would you start? It's Nice That asked five experimental designers, including one of our 2020 Jury Members – Bas Van De Poel, to reimagine spaces of the future for our new reality.

Shape your idea of photography of the future.
Foam & Pakhuis de Zwijger join forces around the exhibition Foam Talent 2020. Through a series of 3 LIVECASTS, they speak with 6 upcoming artists – the first of which, REBELLIOUS INTIMACIES - SUBVERTING THE GAZE, is Thursday 14 January at 18:30.
'Triggered by a conflict within their family the two artists have found empowerment in desire and subverting the gaze. Their work shows a different future and questions structures of power and influence in visual culture.' – Amelie Schüle, co-developer of this series and Interim Head of Projects at Foam

How do you see the future?
With the help of 40 ten-year-old participants, The Rodina created a 'non-violent adventure' game that looks at the children's unique perspective on issues such as future materials, sustainability and cohabitation. This visual dialogue resulted in sketches of building materials, resources and their imaginations.
Is this the age of gender neutral marketing?
As more and more consumers are comfortable about expressing their personal identities beyond the gender binary, urging the conversation to evolve, will 2021 become the year when brands fully embrace gender neutral branding? Imogen Watson from The Drum examines this question.
